The Daily Progress seeks a high-energy, experienced newspaper professional to lead its team.
The publisher develops and executes marketing strategies across multiple platforms to maximize sales and enhance our market share. We expect an executive who quickly spots trends and adjusts to maximize gains or minimize losses. This person will implement effective operations through all departments by making intelligent decisions that will foster a successful environment.
Our publisher must possess strong organizational and communication skills, a creative approach to revenue development and an emphasis on customer service. Candidates should have newspaper management experience that includes budgeting as well as development and implementation of business strategy. We expect someone with a solid record of meeting revenue targets and effective expense management.
The Daily Progress is a 4,000-circulation, five-day newspaper. In addition to the newspaper, we publish several community magazines, a variety of niche publications and a website, www.claremoreprogress.com.
Claremore is a suburb of Tulsa in northeast Oklahoma. It is the seat of government for Rogers County and site of Rogers State University. Claremore is also the longtime home of Will “Favorite Son” Rogers, the early 20th-century humorist, entertainer and journalist, whose life-size bronze statue depicts him reading The Daily Progress and sits on a park bench outside the newspaper’s front door. The community of 18,600 is known for its picturesque neighborhoods and bustling commercial district.
