After a three-decade-long career with the Omaha World-Herald, Terry Kroeger is stepping down as chairman and CEO of BH Media Group.
His resignation follows the announcement that Lee Enterprises will manage BH Media newspapers and digital properties in the group’s 30 markets. (See page 4.)
Kroeger told the World-Herald in a story by Steve Jordon that he is not retiring and hopes to stay in Omaha. “I love the civic life here and all things about this city,” he said. “I grew up here. I want to do something that’s productive and meaningful and I want to stay involved in the civic leadership I’ve had the good fortune to do for a good many years.”
Kroeger, 56, said in the article there are “good, understandable business reasons” for the agreement with Lee, known for its industry-high operating margins.
“It’s a rapidly changing industry, and we need to do those things that are going to give us the best chance to thrive in the future,” Kroeger said. “Clearly, efficiency’s going to be important,” and operating on a larger scale can help reduce costs.
